A new Microsoft Surface Pro X bug causes the camera to stop working

Not a good feature of the Surface Pro X. The tablet’s camera has reportedly stopped working for some users. It is unclear at the time of writing what is causing the problem and how long it will take for the update to be rolled out to resolve it.

Seaside The Surface Pro X’s camera has reportedly stopped working as of this week. The publication was able to independently confirm the story, and says the error affects “everyone”. Many users RedditTwitter (1, 2, 3, 4) and Microsoft support forums they also say that their cameras are not working and they say that reinstalling the camera drivers will not fix the problem. We’ve reached out to Microsoft for a response and will update this story when we hear back.

Owners of the tablet say that resetting the device’s date back to May 22nd in the system’s operating system allows the camera to work again, indicating that it may be a problem with an expired certificate. And while this may work, returning the date to each device causes a lot of problems. This includes authentication on websites, calendar events and troubleshooting and (surprisingly) can cause Windows to malfunction. If you are okay with this, feel free to do it your way. We advise you to wait for updates from Microsoft if possible.

The Surface Pro X, which was released early in 2019, was a 2-in-1 tablet-laptop fusion device that offered the best hardware at the time and the best typing skills. Unfortunately, the car software and the limited integration of the software was the end of the device, even after Microsoft they lowered the price at the end of 2021. Regardless, we hope an update will come soon to fix the problem for Surface Pro X owners.
