House Democrats Are Loudly Saying No to GOP Actions

House Democrats are warning that there will be a big problem if Republicans try to include a requirement for Social Security protection in the debt relief bill.

Movie:

Rep. Primala Jayapal (D-WA) said, “There is a lot of disagreement from across the Democratic Caucus and from the Progressives, and on the streets. I think it’s important that we don’t go back on what the President, himself, has nurtured and led over the last two years.”

Rep. Alexndria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) said, “It’s a problem. We’re not passing legislation based on debt for these reasons.”

In short, the response from House Democrats to Republican demands that social security programs like Medicaid for example come with work requirements is not.

Work requirements will limit the number of people who can participate in the necessary programs, and it is a backward process of weakening and gutting those who need it most.

Democrats will not be redeemed to sacrifice the poorest Americans so that House Republicans can cut taxes for the wealthy and corporations.

Debt talks are getting nowhere because House Republicans refuse to budge on their unreasonable demands.

Threats are non-negotiable. Consistency is not negotiable, and if inconsistency happens, House Republicans will own it.
