The Houston Texas he liked what he saw from Davis Mills in his rookie season, and while he wasn’t on anyone’s radar, he had the best rookie quarterback season two years ago.
Unfortunately, he couldn’t keep up the same pace in his sophomore season, throwing 17 touchdowns and 15 interceptions.
The Texans didn’t hesitate to bring in a potential QB in CJ Stroud with the No. 1 pick.
With that in mind, and considering they re-signed veteran Case Keenum to help Stroud, rival teams have reached out to the Texans expressing interest in trading Mills, according to KPRC 2 Houston, via Dov Kleiman.
Update: NFL teams are “interested” in a potential trade #Texas QB Davis Mills is not available for trade, according to @KPRC2
The Texans signed Case Keenum to help rookie CJ Stroud this offseason. It remains to be seen if they will keep all three QBs.https://t.co/oHqkywlt7i

The Texans, however, have shut down the conversation by saying that Mills is currently unavailable, although it remains to be seen if they want to keep three quarterbacks on their roster going forward.
Mills showed movement and arm strength in his first season with the Texans.
He’s definitely a top pick for multiple backups right now, and who knows, he could be a talented starter if given enough time to develop and put in the right system.
Then again, it’s hard to imagine what’s going on in Houston after the way they made their roster.
Even if Stroud suffers an early setback — which seems unlikely, but could happen — he won’t be able to come back to him, barring a major and unfortunate injury.
