Russian attack on Dnipro hospital leaves one dead, 15 injured, Zelenskyy says: NPR


A tornado hit a hospital in the eastern Ukrainian city of Dnipro on Friday, killing one person and injuring 15, according to the country’s president, Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Video and photos from the scene showed smoke billowing from the heavily damaged building, with rescue workers looking on. In in a tweet, Zelenskyy called for an attack “a crime against humanity.”

Two children, aged 3 and 6, were among the injured, according to Hromadske, a local, non-governmental media outlet.

Ukrainian officials on Friday also said they had shot down 10 Russian missiles and more than 20 drones targeting the capital, Kyiv, and the country’s eastern regions, Reuters reported.

Russia has not commented on the drone strike, but said the explosion that destroyed a building in the Russian city of Krasnodar on Friday was caused by Ukrainian drones. There were no reports of injuries.
