For the first time, a Denver Nuggets they will go to the NBA Finals, and they will have the best shot at winning the world championship.

They got there after sweeping the Los Angeles Lakers in the Western Conference Finals on Monday, winning Game 4, 113-111.

When the final horn sounded at Crypto.com Arena, it was time to celebrate for all Nuggets players and their fans at home, and a photo on the team’s Twitter account showed their mascot still on cloud nine on Tuesday.

The Nuggets got their start in the American Basketball Association (ABA), a league rivaling the old, established NBA that attracted fans for its relaxed style of play, philosophy, and rules.

They had good teams there, and reached the ABA Finals in 1976, the last year of the league’s business, where they lost to Julius Erving’s New York Nets.

But since entering the NBA in the 1976-77 season, the Nuggets have often been worse or less successful.

In 2009, the now retired Carmelo Anthony was able to lead them to the Western Conference Finals, but despite a strong fight, they fell in six games to the Lakers led by Kobe Bryant.

This current iteration looks to be the best team Denver has ever had, as it features two-time MVP Nikola Jokic, the athleticism of Jamal Murray, and an outstanding player.

They will face the Miami Heat for the NBA title, and while the Heat have more battles, they may not have enough to stop the Nuggets from taking it all.
