After suffering a serious ankle injury in Week 2 of 2022 that caused him to miss the rest of the campaign, Trey Lance appears to have a chance to regain his starting spot. San Francisco 49ers.

It’s thought that once Brock Purdy comes back from a torn UCL in his elbow, he’ll still be the starter, but there’s always a chance that won’t be the case.

Until he returns, Lance says he will share the starting duties with Sam Darnold, who the team took away from him in the starting lineup.

As OTAs begin, the North Dakota State University commit is “getting excited about playing football again,” according to David Lombardi.

The QB play of the 49ers puts people under the microscope, as they are one of the most successful teams in any professional sports, and they play in a very attractive market and have many fans outside of Northern California.

There have been high expectations for Lance since the team gave up four picks, including the first two, to get the No. 3 pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.

He’s only played in eight games so far in the franchise, but he’s been under the spotlight because San Francisco rested a large part of their Super Bowl hopes on his shoulders.

As of now, Purdy, who was a rookie last season, is the ready and sure thing despite being the last player taken in 2022, but many feel Lance has a higher ceiling.
