Rohit Sharma led his team from the front in the IPL 2023 Eliminator match against Lucknow Super Giants on Wednesday, May 24. The Mumbai Indians captain impressed to help his team take the big wickets of Krishnappa Gowtham.
In the 13th over of the innings of Lucknow Super Giants, Gowtham cut the ball from Piyush Chawla to this point. The ball went to Cameron Green at the crease, who dived to stop the ball and then pushed it to Rohit Sharma at short extra cover. Gowtham was looking for one, and his partner Deepak Hooda first showed interest before slowing down the run.
Sharma quickly took the ball and threw it towards the batsman’s end. It was a direct hit from the Mumbai Indians skipper, and Krishnappa Gowtham was caught off the edge. You can watch the video of the dismissal here:
Apart from Gowtham’s dismissal, Rohit was also involved in Deepak Hooda’s final project. Coming in a little later, Naveen-ul-Haq hit a ball from Akash Madhwal to the off side.
There was confusion between Hooda and Naveen. They all ended up at the same end. Rohit quickly ran to the non-striker’s end, collected the ball well from the fielder, and pulled the stumps to send Hooda back to the dressing room.
Can Rohit Sharma lead Mumbai Indians to the 7th IPL final?
Mumbai Indians booked their place in Qualifier 2 of IPL 2023 with a massive 81-run win against Lucknow Super Giants last night. MI will win against the defending champions Gujarat Titans in Qualifier 2 on Friday evening at the Narendra Modi Stadium.
GT and MI have clashed twice this season. While Mumbai won the match at the Wankhede Stadium, Gujarat won at the Narendra Modi Stadium. It will be interesting to see which team will join Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2023 Final.
